Journalism prepares students in the writing, reporting, and critical thinking skills required for jobs in the news media or for transfer to a journalism program at a four-year institution. Career options include copy editor, script writer, broadcast journalist, newspaper reporter, magazine writer, columnist, public information officer, online writer, speech writer, freelance writer, advertising copy writer, editor, and photojournalist. Some career options may require more than two years of college study.
