Textbooks, Books, and Equipment Returns 

When and where do I return laptops, calculators, and other technology equipment for spring and summer terms? 

Laptops, calculators, and other equipment returns → 1st floor Library, main hallway
(*IT accepts Library-owned calculators)

  • July 27 and 28, 10am-3pm
  • Aug 3 and 4, 10am-3pm
  • Aug 10 and 11, 10am-3pm

How do I get my books for fall classes?

The DVC Bookcenter will be open ONLINE effective July 30th for fall textbook orders. When the students purchase books through the DVC website, they have the option of store pick-up or UPS.  Refunds for fall textbook purchases will start on August 10th.

Hours: 10 am to 4 pm, Monday through Thursday.

  • Pleasant Hill Campus – Bookcenter, outside window on the south side (AKA – buyback window)
  • San Ramon Campus – Room W-204, upstairs above the Learning Commons

Orders may be shipped directly via UPS. Shipping charges of $11.95 will be applied to the purchase price. There is no charge for store pick-up.


Financial Support

I hear there are funds available from the government to help me stay in school during the pandemic. Where can I learn more?

Yes, funding is now available to all enrolled DVC students that have an emergency expense related to campus closure as a result of COVID-19.  You do not need to be eligible for federal student aid to qualify.  Visit the Covid-19 Emergency Grant webpage to learn about the limited funding, how to apply, and how receipt of funding may impact you.

If you have already received the emergency grant but need additional financial assistance due to an extenuating circumstance, please check your Insite email account regarding the appeal process to request additional funds. If you still have questions after reviewing the webpage, send an email to the basic needs staff. 

How can I make a payment other than online?

The DVC Cashier’s Office will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8AM-12PM to take payments over the phone. Please call 925-969-2105.

How do I get my books for summer and fall classes when the bookstore is closed?

The DVC Bookcenter is open ONLINE for summer textbook orders. When the students purchase books through the DVC website, they have the option of store pick-up or UPS.

Instructional Services

I am enrolled at DVC this fall. Is there a place on campus that I can use a college computer?

Students enrolled in DVC 2020 fall session can access computers and wifi in the lower level of the Library, Rooms: L148, L149, L150. These computer labs will be open. Check back for days and times. Students who wish to use the facilities will be required to abide by the following COVID 19 requirements:   

  1. All students must wear a mask when entering the computer labs (California State mandate)
  2. All students will enter in the L150 doorway.
  3. Students will check in with Computer Lab staff and be assigned a work space. Social distancing guidelines will be followed at all times.
  4. Disinfectant cleaning wipes will be provided for students to clean workspace and computer equipment before and after usage.
  5. Students will notify computer lab staff when leaving facility to sign out and verify cleaning has been completed.
  6. There will also be outdoor seating available to students in front of the computer labs, but social distancing guidelines must be followed.
When are the campuses scheduled to reopen?

The college campuses (Pleasant Hill and San Ramon) will follow all of the guidelines set forth by the state, the county, and the college district to determine when it is safe to reopen. Due to the continuing shelter-in-place order, most fall 2020 classes and campus services will remain online. 

I have a question about a specific instructional program or student service. Who can I ask?

Students with subject or discipline specific questions should contact their program lead, department chair or area dean or manager. See the list of DVC support people by subject/area.

Where can I get information about online tutoring?

DVC peer tutoring is available online. Please check the specific tutoring subject areas on the DVC Tutoring Services webpage for information about available tutoring in your subject.  For help accessing tutoring or support, visit the  Academic Support Center. In addition, NetTutor  is available to all students 24/7 via any Canvas course. 

How do I get access to library resources - including textbooks - and services now that the library is closed?

The DVC Library, 2nd floor, is currently closed until further notice. The Library staff is examining ways to open the 2nd floor facilities in a safe and sustainable manner in order to allow students’ use of print reserve materials (e.g., textbooks), copiers and scanners, and study spaces. Access to the physical facilities will be by appointment only. 

All subscription databases and streaming media are available now to registered students. 

Starting the first day of instruction, Monday, August 24, students can Chat with DVC librarians from 8 am – 9 pm, M-Th., and 10 am – 3 pm, Fridays.  Outside of those hours, DVC’s consortial library partners are available by chat 24/7.


Registration Services

I applied for graduation in spring 2020.  When will I get my diploma/certificate?

Transcripts will be posted with degree information and diplomas will be mailed out within 10 weeks after the conclusion of the term. Please log in to your InSite portal account to track the status of your degree and/or certificate.

How do I contact DVC student services like counseling or the admissions office?

All services have moved to an online format, but we are still here (virtually) to help our students. Visit the service website for live chat during open hours or pick up the phone and your call will be routed to a live person, just like in the past.

When does fall registration start?

Fall registration is going on now. The class schedule is available to view on our website or visit our searchable schedule.

I am currently a high school student, and I want to take a class at DVC in Pleasant Hill or San Ramon. How do I enroll now that the college is closed to in-person visits?  
All of the "Steps to Enroll" for current high school students can now be completed online. Please visit Steps to Enroll for High School Students for step-by-step instructions. Please email Welcome Services with any questions.
I need a form to help with registration or my student record. Where can I find them online?

DVC has made most of our forms available online and they can be completed and submitted electronically. Please visit our electronic forms page. For assistance, email the Admissions and Records Office or call 925-685-1310.

Anyone experiencing food insecurity is recommended to access community resources available at the following locations: Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano and Leila by the Bay. The DVC Food Pantry will schedule on-campus grocery pick-ups in April and notify all current pantry-enrolled students. First time pantry users:  Please complete a quick and confidential Online Intake Application Form.

I am a current DVC student and I was planning to transfer in 2020-21. Will my transfer status be impacted?

The Career and Transfer Center has collected resources and information at this Canvas site. It is recommended to meet with a counselor to discuss your particular situation.

What if I don’t have wifi, a computer, or other technology necessary to take an online class?

We recognize that students may have technology needs. We want to track needs as they are coming up for you because we want to support you in completing your online courses and educational activities and services.

Where can I find instructions on how to use Zoom or Canvas?

Are student government and student life activities still happening during the college closure? (hide)

Both the Inter Club Council and ASDVC are up and running. They will hold their weekly meetings via Zoom with links posted to DVCsync.
